Our teaching team of three arrived back in the U.S. late on August 7th, tired but gratified by the hard work and loving spirit of the Ngobe Health Promoter Class. We gained a 13th student, who will need individual help to gain the information from the first class.
We moved from the concepts of Sanitation, Nutrition to teaching related to vital signs monitoring, first aid and
resussitation. We realized that one faithful student was only able to write her name and could not read. Our challenge was to find ways to use her other abilities and to encourage her as she continues to work hard in the course. We look forward to returning for the next class segment
in March, 2009, which will cover maternal health, pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and male sexual health.
