The NCJ hosted its 9th annual RxConnexion Consultation for health volunteers in Grand Haven, MI May 1-3. The group welcomed all Volunteers in Mission interested in some aspect of health. Sessions were geared for both lay and health professionals. This year's meeting featured programs related to how short-term volunteers can use community based health concepts to empower local communities and effect a long-

Attendees selected from courses related to Pharmacy, Anesthesia,
Maternal Child Health, Community Based Health, Water Purification, MRSA, Individual Volunteers, Spiritual Care, and Operation Classroom in Africa. UMVIM Leadership Training was also offered. The two plenary sessions focused on aspects of Community Based Health Programs.

Guest Speakers from outside the Jurisdiction included Dr. Cherian Thomas, UM Executive Secretary for Health and Welfare; Connie Gates, RN, MPH, Consultant with the Jamkhed India Project; Dr. Roger Boe, UMVIM Health Consultant; Rhett Thompson, UM Missionary to Panama ; Barbara Stone, Consultant/Liaison UMVIM-UMCOR; and Landon Taylor, UM Individual Volunteer Coordinator. The local host facilitators were Barry and Bron Kram of the Dunes United Methodist Church.
Each year on the first week-end in May, RxConnexion is held in a different location within the 11 state North Central Jurisdiction. Health Volunteers outside the jurisidiction are welcome to attend. Check this blog for information on the next meeting.
