Who Should Attend? American patients are increasingly global in their make up. Some 50 million are culturally diverse and operate under concepts of health and medicine that are unfamiliar to most healthcare professionals. In Kansas City alone, the 2005 US Census Bureau reported that the greater metropolitan area of Kansas City was home to 92,539 individuals that considered English a second language. The Cross-Cultural Competency in Healthcare Symposium will equip healthcare professionals to successfully care for some of the most distinct and underserved immigrants and minorities in their regions.
