FEBRUARY/MARCH 2010Our Lord’s United Methodist Church (OLUMC) in New Berlin, Wisconsin is once again assembling a Mission Team to serve in Honduras in 2010. We will be departing February 27th and returning March 7th (9 days). Our primary focus is on providing medical care and promoting on-going community health for several small, very poor mountain communities in Honduras. This includes not only immediate treatment of medical, dental, and optometric conditions, but preventative activities including improved hygiene and nutrition.
We welcome persons with any medical skills to consider joining us in serving the health needs of these communities.
We also provide instruction in sewing and knitting for the women in these communities. Anyone interested in teaching these or related skills would be a welcome addition to the mission team.
Another important component of our missions has been providing Vacation Bible School for the many children in these communities. This includes teaching and acting out Bible stories, singing, games, sports and coloring. Thus anyone with experience and a love for working with children of all ages is welcome to be a part of our mission team.
This is an ideal opportunity to get a taste of mission as we continue our participation in this outreach area. Estimated cost is $1,300.
Call us with questions or to express interest. We are planning several team orientation meetings during the fall.
