Update on Prospective Haiti Volunteers

Dear Haiti Volunteers,
Thank you again for your interest in serving the people of Haiti through Volunteers in Mission .  Here is the most recent news from UMCOR regarding future mission teams to Haiti :
The initial volunteers will be medical teams led by a trained team leader with prior experience in Haiti (This requirement will be relaxed at some point but for the initial teams leaders must have prior experience in Haiti ).  UMCOR is currently putting together a list of priority projects.  Volunteers will be assigned to specific priority projects as they arrive.
A few things you should consider doing now would be to check your passport and make sure that you have plenty of time left on it before it expires (you always need to have at least six months of time left on it for it to be considered current); check with your doctor for necessary vaccinations (i.e. tetanus, hepatitis A & B, etc.-For more information visit the CDC page on Haiti); If you have yet to do so and are interested in leading a team please attend team leader training (future dates and times can be found at www..umocm.com/vim_events.htm). We will continue to keep you posted as information comes to us.

Blessings,

Audrey Phelps
